Composite Veneer Procedure
Composite veneers, like composite bonding, directly apply a composite resin material to the tooth in thin layers to achieve the desired size, shape and colour.
One of the major benefits of composite veneers is the fact that they are immediate – requiring just one appointment to sculpt without the use of needles or tooth preparation.

Directly sculpted
Rather than using a porcelain shell to cover teeth, a composite resin is directly applied to the tooth in layers.
No-prep required
When creating a composite veneer, no prep or very little is required. Existing restorations like caries are removed and the enamel surface is cleaned and etched with 37% phosphoric acid.
Reversible
Unlike porcelain veneers, the composite procedure is reversible, so you can remove them later. Teeth can be polished down to look similar to how they did before treatment should you not wish to replace them.
One of our cosmetic dentists will begin the application by cleaning your teeth thoroughly and preparing them for the composite resin application.
In some instances, our dentists might require a thin layer of enamel to be removed to allow the material to better stick to your teeth. However, in the majority of cases where some changes are minor, teeth do not need to be cut, prepped or etched.
After applying the composite, we will cure or quickly harden the layers of the resin with a light. Teeth are then polished and you’re ready to leave and enjoy your new smile.
You can expect the composite veneers to last between 5-7 years on average, but you can extend their lifespan by taking good care of them.
Taking care of your composite veneers
Taking care of your composite veneers is simple and straightforward. To extend their life, patients should embrace a routine of regular brushing and introducing a nonabrasive toothpaste.
However, composite is not as strong as porcelain and therefore you should take great care as they’re more susceptible to chips and stains.
Being aware of how drinks like coffee and tea can stain your new veneers, as well as not biting or chewing on pens, nails or other hard objects with your teeth will be crucial for keeping them in good condition. That said, composite veneers can be easily removed, replaced and repaired by adding new composite material.
