What To expect during the veneer fitting
The dental veneer process and procedure in a nutshell:
If you choose to have veneers, your dentist will begin by removing a tiny amount of enamel from the front surface of your teeth (this sometimes is not required), especially with certain porcelain branded veneers like Lumineers and Durathin.
Composite veneers also require no tooth preparation and are the perfect option for patients not sure about committing to the permanency of veneers.
Once your teeth are ready for fitting, your dentist will fix your veneers to the front of your teeth with a unique adhesive. We will then check the veneers to ensure a perfect fit before curing the adhesive and finalising the process.
Dental veneers, like porcelain, will not require any special maintenance. Patients are encouraged to treat their veneers just like they would natural teeth.
Following your veneer application, one of our cosmetic dentists will provide you with an aftercare pack and advise you on the best next steps to ensure the longevity of your veneers.
Post-procedure care
- Brush regularly (no need for special alterations to your oral hygiene routine.
- Don’t grind on teeth or chew hard objects.
- While stain-resistant, be careful when drinking coffee or red wine.
- Use mouthwash daily and visit the dentist for regular check-ups.
- Avoid smoking to keep nicotine stains at bay.
Veneers are thin ceramic laminates bonded to your teeth.
