Single Dental Implants

The benefit of tooth implants is that they are fixed in your mouth and can be treated like regular teeth. You will never have to worry about implants slipping or coming loose, like with dentures.

Have you lost a tooth due to problems like gum disease or extensive tooth decay leading to tooth extraction? Or have you been involved in a trauma or sporting accident that has knocked out a tooth?

Whatever your reason for replacing a missing tooth, Mint Dental in Elephant & Castle can help. Our implant dentists have undergone extensive training to perform innovative implant treatments, including single implants.

Top Questions Answered On Single Implants:

When choosing an implant dentist, patients often expect higher success rates and increased longevity. Not to mention the skill and artistry it will take to ensure your replacement tooth blends perfectly with the rest of the mouth.

Here at Mint Dental, we couldn’t be happier to boast higher-than-average implant success rates, with the national average being 95%.

Yes – single implants are designed to target individual tooth loss. Those who choose to replace a missing or failing tooth with a single implant over a partial denture or a bridge report more incredible benefits and a higher quality of life.

The implant itself can last a very long time and will not need to be replaced (however, proper care and attention will be required to ensure the implant remains successful). Whereas the crown is strong and resistant but is susceptible, like regular teeth, to wear and tear and will likely need replacing every 10 to 15 years.

One single dental implant can sometimes be used to anchor one missing adjacent tooth. After the implant has had sufficient time to fuse with the jawbone, one of our implant dentists can use a two-unit restoration, which will be strong and stable.

What Can Single Implants Fix?

  • A tooth that has been extracted or as a result of an accident or injury.
  • Loose, wobbly teeth or heavily decayed teeth that a dentist cannot save.
  • Broken and cracked teeth that are beyond repair.

“This is the best dental practice I have experienced over many years. Dr Patel has always gone the ‘extra mile’ to get me the best medical care available when I had a tooth problem. The surgery is always light, bright and welcoming. The staff are helpful and kind; it is a ‘patient-centred’ dental practice, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a first-class service.” Linda, London

What’s The Procedure Like, And How Long Does It Take?

When it comes to dental implant surgery, the treatment type can vary – a more detailed view of timings can be expected following an implant consultation.

However, as a rough indication, traditional tooth implants often take one appointment to place but follow with a break for a few months while we wait for the jawbone to integrate successfully with the titanium implant.

Rest assured, though, that we will fill the gap with a temporary tooth, which we will replace with your crown once osseointegration has finished.

Please note that we cannot rush the healing period (osseointegration) as it gives the optimal time for bone and implant to fuse and heal, providing maximum stability and strength.

At the same time, at our practice in South East London, we take advantage of modern, innovative systems that allow us to treat missing teeth in just one dental visit – this is with a system called All-on-4. However, this system is only applicable to full arch rehabilitation.

Implants Rule Supreme

For many patients experiencing single tooth loss, titanium implants have been the most favoured, long-term solution, producing excellent, predictable results.

One of the benefits of choosing a dental implant over traditional replacement methods like dental bridges or partial dentures is that the neighbouring, healthy teeth require no preparation and will not need to undergo unnecessary damage to complete your restoration, as is the case with bridgework.

Opting for the dental implant technique and system allows the rest of your teeth and dentition to be left unchanged and intact.

Dentures With Dental Implants

Tooth loss undoubtedly harms a patient’s confidence and self-esteem, but that’s not all…

  • Tooth loss at the front of the mouth affects social impairment.
  • Missing molars cause problems chewing and adds pressure to remaining teeth bearing the load and pressure.
  • When a missing tooth goes untreated, it causes problems with the remaining teeth, which have to compensate for the tooth loss. As a result, missing teeth often lead to gum disease, bone loss and excessive tooth wear or fractures.
  • Missing teeth in the front of the mouth can impair and alter speech.
  • Bone loss is common, and once this takes place, it can lead to tooth loss.
  • Adjacent teeth on either side of the gap can drift and move.

4 years a customer and always professional yet friendly service. Corrected my major issues (fillings/caps) and while they’re keen to ensure ongoing ‘perfect teeth’ they don’t hard sell peripheral / optional treatments. Highly recommended

I was looking for somewhere with a personal touch, that I could trust and that’s what I got at Mint. They always remember my name and are so polite. After a year of zoom meetings I really wanted my teeth to be straight and the results completely surpassed my expectations. I now feel comfortable taking photos! The team explained everything clearly (I felt I could ask anything multiple times) appointments were always organised and it was a really easy, worthwhile process. My teeth look like my teeth but are now at their best.
