Why a tooth extraction might be necessary

While our goal here at Mint is to keep your teeth as intact as possible, in some scenarios, our general dentists, periodontists or oral surgeons might have to carry out tooth extractions procedures to ensure the overall integrity and stability of your oral health.

Irreparable tooth damage or decay

Helping impacted teeth

When a tooth is impacted, it’s blocked from coming out, which is often the story with wisdom teeth.

In such cases, our specialist orthodontist Dr Francesca Pantanali might recommend that the impacted tooth be removed to prevent it from damaging existing teeth. By pulling a tooth this way, we also help minimise the risk of infection or overcrowding.

However, before making this recommendation, we will thoroughly examine the affected area because we are committed to delivering exceptional treatments and patient care.

Eliminate overcrowding

Tooth extraction for one or several teeth is often necessary in overcrowding, class II malocclusion cases.

Often, when patients wish to undergo orthodontic treatment, but there is no room for the teeth to shift and realign correctly, it might be necessary to remove teeth to make room.
