Lost Fillings - £75 for an appointment right NOW

When tooth pain or sensitivity accompanies a dental filling replacement, it should be treated as an emergency. Do not try to treat a lost filling at home.

Dental fillings take a single visit to replace.

However, we will look into the root cause which led your filling to fall out in the first place, as it can be linked to more oral health problems.

If a portion of your filling has cracked off, we can use a composite resin material to rebuild the specific area rather than replace the entire filling. White fillings are available.

Lost filling advice

Don’t try to manage your dental filling at home. Replace it safely with dentists in London.

What does my appointment fee include?

Your fee of £75 emergency appointment includes assessment, pain relief and x-ray.

Lost filling causes
  • The dental filling has worn down.
  • There are new areas of decay around the filling.
  • You chew on hard or crunchy foods.
  • You grind your teeth.
  • Has weakened over time, for example, white fillings typically do not last more than 10 years.
The dangers of ignoring a cavity

It’s never a good idea to ignore a cavity, whilst it’s not dangerous, it’s not safe either. When you ignore a cavity, and it goes untreated, patients within two years can experience severe damage to their tooth. Discolouration, swelling and severe pain and sensitivity is common.

Damage to the tooth root and pulp is also common at this point, which if a root canal fails, it’s a possibility you might lose your tooth.

Ways to repair a filling

We can either replace the filling, which is the simplest treatment, however, it should be noted that the replacement filling will likely need to be bigger than the previous one.

Sometimes, when the tooth has deteriorated beyond filling repair, a dental crown might be necessary when the current filling has already reached its maximum size.

How long is the dental filling procedure?

The procedure should take no longer than an hour. Simple filling procedures can take as little as 20 minutes. However, the procedure time will vary depending on the number of fillings being placed in the mouth.

How much does a tooth filling cost?

White fillings are the most popular option, and they cost from £90. Amalgam fillings are no longer offered at our London practice.

Replace a filling today

  • Feel an indentation or a hole when the tongue comes in contact with the tooth?
  • Experiencing sudden pain in the tooth? Or sensitivity?
  • Is food getting trapped in cracked or holes in your teeth?
  • Tooth filling feels rough, showing signs of wearing down

The above are all common signs that a tooth filling has fallen out.

How to tell if you need a new filling today:

  • Your tooth is sensitive.
  • The tooth is chipped, broken or fractured.
  • The tooth has dark spots.
  • Throbbing, sharp tooth pain.

Experiencing any tooth pain can be a sign of infection or tooth decay. Step in to save your tooth with a simple filling before the decline gets out of control, to avoid dental crowns or tooth extraction.

Flexible appointment times

  • Early morning, lunchtime, afternoon and evening availability.
  • Appointments after 6 pm and before 8 am (charged £105 out-of-hours).
  • CQC-rated outstanding practice and GDC-registered dentists.
  • Dental insurance accepted, and 0% finance available.

Walk-in patients welcome, but please call beforehand to see if we’re fully booked. If this is the case, an out-of-hours appointment can be arranged.

4 years a customer and always professional yet friendly service. Corrected my major issues (fillings/caps) and while they're keen to ensure ongoing 'perfect teeth' they don't hard sell peripheral / optional treatments. Highly recommended

I was looking for somewhere with a personal touch, that I could trust and that’s what I got at Mint. They always remember my name and are so polite. After a year of zoom meetings I really wanted my teeth to be straight and the results completely surpassed my expectations. I now feel comfortable taking photos! The team explained everything clearly (I felt I could ask anything multiple times) appointments were always organised and it was a really easy, worthwhile process. My teeth look like my teeth but are now at their best.
